➡️Background to the assignment
The Ghana National Youth Authority is in a crucial phase of strengthening its national volunteering framework. Although Ghana has a rich tradition of youth volunteering, there is a need to professionalize and standardise volunteer management systems to align with international best practice.
The current context presents both challenges and opportunities:
- A growing population of young people looking for meaningful opportunities to get involved.
- The need for standardised volunteer management protocols.
- Growing demand from the public and private sectors for structured volunteering programmes.
- Leverage technology to manage volunteers.
- Need to bring national volunteering standards into line with international frameworks.
So the NYA need to recruit a VSI volunteer. The volunteer will contribute to the management of NYA’s volunteering projects/programmes and strengthen its institutional capacity. He or she will support to this end, the NYA in achieving the objectives :
- Strengthen the NID’s institutional capacity to manage volunteers.
- Develop comprehensive volunteer lifecycle management systems.
- Put in place monitoring and evaluation frameworks for volunteering programmes.
- Create sustainable knowledge management systems for volunteering initiatives.
➡️ The main activities to be carried out by the volunteer:
Reporting to the Director of Programmes and Operations, the volunteer will be responsible for carrying out the activities :
- Assessment and planning phase
- Identifying needs NYA’s support
- Drawing up a detailed working land and implementation strategy
- Systems development
- Drawing up volunteer management protocols
- Creation of a digital database of volunteers
- Training and capacity building
- Design of training courses
- Staff capacity building
- Development of quality assurance
- Creation of monitoring tools
- Development of assessment frameworks
- Knowledge management
- Process documentation
- Drawing up a sustainable development plan
➡️Desired profile
Preferred training :
- Master’s degree in public administration, development studies, project management or a related field.
- Additional certification in volunteer management would be an advantage
Desired professional/associate experience(s) :
- At least 3 years’ experience in volunteer management or a related field
- Proven experience in developing training materials and protocols
- Experience of digital database management systems
- Professional experience in Africa preferred
Key skills and abilities required:
- Strong project management skills
- Experience in developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks
- Excellent documentation and report writing skills
- Mastery of digital tools and database management
- Solid interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
Language requirement: Fluency in English
➡️ Terms of the assignment
- Status of Volunteers for International Solidarity (Law of 2022).
- Installation allowance and resettlement allowance on return.
- Monthly subsistence allowance: this allowance is not in the nature of a salary or remuneration and enables the assignment to be carried out in decent living conditions.
- Basic social security cover (sickness, maternity, invalidity, accidents at work and old age), mutual insurance, repatriation insurance, provident insurance and civil liability).
- Individual or collective accommodation offering decent comfort.
- Provision of accommodation; or, where applicable, payment of an accommodation lump sum.
- Travel expenses 1 return trip between place of residence and place of employment.
